Received very quickly in the mail – I’m in Canada and wasn’t expecting the drive so fast! I was initially a little worried when it arrived and saw that the box stated that the drive had a mid-2024 manufacture date, but once I installed the drive and fired up MakeMKV my fears were eliminated and the firmware was capable of UHD playback. Everything worked flawlessly – I’m a very happy customer!
Just got this drive in the mail, everything is working as it should. This drive seems very high quality, I will see in time if it lasts! I am satisfied and would recommend this drive to those in the market for a UHD reading and writing capable drive.
Works as expected, delivery was prompt. Happy with the service.
This drive came through for me! It was able to read a 4K disc when my other three readers failed.
This is the second one I have purchased as a “back up”.

This beautiful drive arrived today.
It was meticulously packaged and arrived in reasonable time.
When I opened the box to install It the look weight and feel took me back to days gone by when optical drives were built to last more than 6 months.
As I am now a retiree I initially opted for the “economical option” purchasing a LG drive.
I was reminded once again that you get what you pay for.
After a week the laser in the drive failed.
So I had it replaced with the same drive.
And again the replacement died on me and once again the IT shop confirmed it was the optical drive and offered me another replacement.
I thought third time lucky.
Finally history had once again repeated itself .
They kindly refunded my purchase.
I decided to go on Jason’s website and bought my self the Pioneer BDR-S13JBK (Official UHD Drive) .
Yes it was a financial stretch for me but I know when one has to bite the bullet and accept that quality costs a bit extra.
The first thing I did was to get out my two 4k discs that all three LG’s failed to rip.
I was going to ditch them (the 4K discs) but thankfully I didn’t.
I had read reviews of my Pioneer drive that it has ripped discs that other Drives have dismally failed.
Well I am happy to report that using Makemkv this “gem” did not let me down.
Finally it is so quiet in operation and the loading tray opens and closes like it is sliding on ball bearings.
It is beautiful aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
I fully recommend this product and buying from Jason has added to this pleasurable experience.
I am also considering buying a second one as a backup as these drives won’t be available forever.

really fast servce from UHD enabled- the devices arrived nicely packaged, and read speeds can be as high as 4.8x
Great communication and quick shipping. Everything arrived in good order. The drive itself is super quiet and is reasonably quick at backing up. Using with the Vantec VST-530S4 (already had) and no complaints. Would buy again!
Original drive with libredrive compatible firmware. Fast shipping and great seller communication. Reads great, even a 4k triple layer disc that Pioneer S12’s couldn’t. Very quiet and smooth. Slightly slower than other Pioneers I have at the same setting (quality/quiet) – average 3.8x instead of max 4x. Maybe more ventilation sensitive than other Pioneers I have; it is sealed with metallic tape all round (for dust/electrical/warranty reasons?) so I am considering a fan based case instead of the great looking NexStar DX2 (but may not look so nice as it does now). Very satisfied overall
